Precision Optics Workshop

Your scope is a critical component of your precision rifle system.

Many experts will recommend that you should spend more on your optic than on the rifle it is attached to. Due to the massive surge in interest in long range and precision rifle shooting, the optics market has exploded with scopes to fit almost every budget and shooting activity. In order to get the best performance out of your optic, it is important to ensure it is positioned and mounted correctly, and the shooter needs to have an intimate understanding of the interaction between the various controls.

Topics Covered Include:

  • First Focal Plane vs. Second Focal Plane
  • Minutes of Angle (MOA) vs. Miliradians (Mil)
  • Parallax Adjustment
  • Reticle subtensions
  • Scope leveling
  • Proper adjustment of eye relief and length of pull
  • Estimating range
  • Wind Formulas, etc
